Functional modularity in stereotype representation

چکیده
We employed the retrieval-practice paradigm to test the hypothesis that stereotypes are organized in a meaningful, valence-based way that promotes evaluative coherence. Replicating previous research, we demonstrated that the rehearsal of traits known to describe a target person produced enhanced recall of those practiced traits and reduced recall of other known but non-practiced traits, relative to baseline. However, both the availability of a group label that united the traits within a stereotype and the evaluative consistency of the practiced and non-practiced traits moderated the nature of these effects: although recall of non-practiced stereotypic traits that were evaluatively inconsistent with the practiced traits showed the typical pattern of inhibition, recall of nonpracticed stereotypic traits that were evaluatively consistent with the practiced traits was facilitated relative to baseline. We conclude by discussing how the modular representation implied by these findings is functional, potentially fostering the momentary experience of evaluative consistency in person perception. 2003 Elsevier Inc. Mining Overlapping Communities in Real-world Networks Based on Extended Modularity Gain
Detecting communities plays a vital role in studying group level patterns of a social network and it can be helpful in developing several recommendation systems such as movie recommendation, book recommendation, friend recommendation and so on. Most of the community detection algorithms can detect disjoint communities only, but in the real time scenario, a node can be a member of more than one ...

Functional connectivity patterns derived from neuroimaging data may be represented as graphs or networks, with individual image voxels or anatomically-defined structures representing the nodes, and a measure of correlation between the responses in each pair of nodes determining the edges. This explicit network representation allows network-analysis approaches to be applied to the characterizati...

Introduction: So far the methods employed in determining functional modularity have primarily followed the same premise, namely that finding structural modules in a network would also identify the functional modules. Such structural modularity is indicated by the presence of densely connected groups of nodes with sparser connections between groups [1] and graph community detection algorithms ha...

In our seminar we have been working towards a modularity lifting theorem. Recall that such a theorem allows one (under suitable hypotheses) to deduce the modularity of a p-adic Galois representation from that of the corresponding mod p representation. This is a wonderful theorem, but it is not immediately apparent how it can be applied: when does one know that the residual representation is mod...

Let F be a number field, and (ρ, V ) a continuous, n-dimensional representation of the absolute Galois group Gal(F/F ) on a finite-dimensional C-vector space V . Denote by L(s, ρ) the associated L-function, which is known to be meromorphic with a functional equation. Artin’s conjecture predicts that L(s, ρ) is holomorphic everywhere except possibly at s = 1, where its order of pole is the multi...
